Post-Doctoral Fellowships

The Center offers two post-doctoral fellowships for 2015-2017 as part of the Merced Program in the Humanities. Post-doctoral scholars do work relating to the biennial research theme that also falls in the area of public humanities. During their two-year appointment, they continue their research program; participate in the Center for the Humanities seminar, offering a paper at least once during that time; give one public presentation in an off-campus location; and work with faculty to plan the final conference of the period. It is expected that fellows may have the opportunity to teach one course each year in an area of their research. Upon final determination of course offerings, the post-doctoral appointment would be reduced to allow for a teaching appointment. We anticipate this position will be 83 percent post-doctoral scholar and 17 percent lecturer; the combination of both appointments will not exceed 100 percent. Candidates should have received their Ph.D. between 2009 and 2013. Fellows are selected every two years for two-year terms.

The current application cycle has closed. Announcement of future competitions will be posted here.
