The Center for the Humanities at UC Merced offers three dissertation writing fellowships for Interdisciplinary Humanities graduate students at $8,000 each for the summer of 2026. Fellows will also be offered writing space in our public humanities design studio for the summer if they do not currently have office space on campus. Please note that these fellowships are open to graduate students who have taken their qualifying exams and have been advanced to candidacy. Please be sure to request that the required supporting letter from your advisor be sent by the application deadline.
The fellowship comes with the following requirements:
- Presentation of a research paper based on your dissertation topic at our Center for the Humanities or on another UC campus.
- 1-page report on dissertation writing progress made over the summer 30 days after completion of your fellowship.
