Amanda Caterina Leong is a third-year Ph.D. student from the Interdisciplinary Humanities Ph.D. Program in UC Merced. Her research looks at the multimedia ways women from Mughal, Safavid, and Qajar Iran performed javanmardi (chivalry) that was central to defining notions of ethics, healthcare, and empire-building that shaped the Persianate world. Her work has appeared in IranWire, Ajam Media Collective and Chicago Review of Books' Arcutus Magazine.
