I am excited to serve once again as director of the Center for the Humanities and to finally be able to go back to campus! This academic year, our Center will continue to award grants to faculty and graduate students. In addition, we will host capacity-building workshops, lecture series, and other activities. The Center will continue to sponsor public programs and we will coordinate a junior faculty exchange with other UC campuses sponsored by the Multicampus Research Programs and Initiatives (MRPI), will manage the Digital Humanities laboratory, and will work on developing on a new UCTV channel focused on humanities research. In addition, we will continue to support the Luce Foundation’s workshops and summer institute, the Faculty Writing Group, as well as grant writing workshops through the Mellon Foundation grant and Bobcat Comics through eScholarship.
With Associate Director Christina Lux’s help, I plan to honor our mission of stimulating individual and collaborative, interdisciplinary research in both the humanities and the arts, all the while engaging the broader public.
